NEC reckons its server is ideal for SMBs looking for more oomph
NEC Computers announces the release of the SAS version of the NEC Express5800/120Eh2 server. With higher technical specifications than other products available in this market sector, NEC Computers is focusing on server scalability to meet the current and future needs of high-growth companies.

A flexible server for high-growth small and medium-sized businesses

A server designed for increasingly changing environments, such as public bodies (health, research, administrations) and major organisations with remote sites, the NEC Express5800/120Eh2 is perfectly suited to: • File/printing servers • Infrastructure servers (domain servers, DNS servers, DHCP, Active Directory) • Applications with local databases and e-mail • Collaborative suites (Lotus Notes, Intranet, techno watch)

Designed, developed and manufactured at NEC’s technological site in Angers (49 - France), the NEC Express5800/120Eh2 reduces the complexity of data management for small and medium-sized businesses by offering a unique architecture that adapts to its various needs.

A high-performance server with the latest technology

The NEC Express5800/120Eh2 is the only server on the market with full modularity in terms of disks (SAS/SATA/SCSI) and a fixed or redundant power supply. It provides an ideal compromise between flexibility, performance and configuration capacities.

The NEC Express5800/120Eh2 delivers optimal performance provided by the latest technology of the quad-core Xeon Intel® processor (5300 series).

This server’s performance is supplemented by SAS technology (Serial Attached SCSI). This technology enables spectacular bandwidth savings on the disks. It allocates a dedicated bandwidth per disk, with a maximum theoretical speed that can reach up to 3Gb/s or 384Mb/s. For 6-disk configuration, the bandwidth can theoretically be increased by over 400%!

The NEC Express5800/120Eh2 supports 6 3.5’’ HotSwap SAS hard disks (hotswap) for a storage capacity of up to 1.8Tb running at 15 000 rpm.

It also supports Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology (IOAT), designed to improve network data transfer (transmission speed doubled).

The NEC Express5800/120Eh2 comes with two standard network interfaces (2 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports on mother board). Environmentally-friendly, it has the lowest electricity consumption on the market (550W supply).
